Product description

“This book is clearly written and well-supported by concrete examples of materials and implementation strategies that are directly aligned with current research findings. It is especially useful for teachers in Montessori settings. However, the ideas are universal and could easily find effective implementation in traditional classrooms should the appropriate materials be available.”

Read it to learn how to teach how to read.
n a sentence: The Montessori methodology naturally incorporates many aspects of the modern ‘Science of Reading’ methodology and helping teachers understand both and how they relate can improve outcomes.Who should read it: Teachers, and Parents. Anyone who wants to better understand why language and literacy comprehension are important to long term success and who has a general interest in the practice of Montessori and is looking for the reasoning and tools to implement some of it’s practices into their teaching of reading comprehension. As a non teacher who is trying to help young children and has some surface knowledge of Montessori and The Science of Reading this was an excellent overview for me and has given me the direction to take my teaching next.

  2. Juan José Monterrosa

Great bibliographical book on how Montessori education is interrelated with the science of reading.
Montessori, the pedagogical method that bears the name of María Montessori, academically challenges the issues of the social issue of childhood, as well as the importance of early literacy, knowledge instruction, a philosophy and its own epistemology, the book is one of the main sources for reading Montessori itself on the subject of literacy and teaching phonetic reading and writing, congratulations on the work.

  3. AGP

    Great for Public Montessori
I’m the only Montessorian in my public school district. This provided a great case for the validity of Montessori practice within The Science of Reading! Additionally, it provided some great ideas of ways to marry the two to better support struggling readers, as well as link vocabulary between Montessori and the SOR.

Montessori Literacy is Completely Aligned with “Science of Reading” Best Practices
This book is a must read for public Montessorians who are working to ensure that their schools can continue striving for implementation of Montessori with fidelity. Why? Susan Zoll enables the reader to see how each aspect of the “Science of Reading” wave that is crossing the country is aligned with Montessori. This is the resource you need to, once again, say “Maria was right.”
