“Such a heartwarming book. Beautifully written and illustrated.”

author-illustrator Eric Fan (from The Fan Brothers)

“A touching title for good dads everywhere.”

– children’s author and librarian extraordinaire Betsy Bird (A Fuse #8 Production)

“A beautiful, touching story that will melt your heart in the same way that Robert Munsch’s book, Love You Forever, touched generations of young readers (and their loving parents, too). A tender, compassionate look at a father-son relationship.”

Readers’ Favorite

“A moving story to remind us that love is a form of deep noticing and that loving can very much be made up of new choices we make.”

Kate Hoefler, author of “Nothing in Common”, “Rabbit and the Motorbike”, and “Real Cowboys”

A beautiful and compellingly different approach to celebrating fathers. Many picture books for kids explore love between fathers and sons but few are so specific, engaging, and realistically reflective as My Dad, My Rock. It should be critical, essential reading for any age who would better understand the important role of a father in the family. An exceptional read that is highly recommended.

Midwest Book Review

“An extremely heartwarming and soul-touching story. It is hard to describe the wonderful feelings you will get reading this book. Everyone should get a copy.”

Reedsy Discovery, starred review ⭐

” A heartwarming ode fo fatherhood. Lovely, muted pencil illustrations in soft shades add a dream-life quality to the story. A delightful book for sharing, and perfect for Father’s Day.”

The Children’s Book Review

“A touching multigenerational ode to fathers with illustrations as sweet as the love between this dad and son.”

Jessie Oliveros, author of ‘The Remember Balloons’

    Beautiful, heart warming story
An extremely heart-warming and soul touching story about a boy’s view of his father that everyone should read.Oliver never met his Grandpa and Grandpa never met his son (Oliver’s dad). Oliver thinks about how he would describe his father to his Grandpa. He would say his dad is amazing. He is loving and caring but also silly and strong. His father is a teacher, a guide, and a good listener. His father is all the above and more.We always talk about how amazing mothers are and how they handle and take care of many things (which mothers are and mothers do,) but you don’t hear the same as often about fathers. And I have rarely seen books about fathers – that too about the way a child feels and views his/her father.I think it is great that author has written such a book. It’s needed. Fathers do a lot and they should equally be represented in books. To be very honest, it is hard to describe the wonderful feeling you will get reading this book. It will move you and make you smile and even make you want to cry. The author has done such a wonderful job in maintaining a loving and child-like tone throughout the story. The story flows nicely from beginning to end. You really feel like a little kids is talking to you about his dad. What I really like is in the end, the characters are shown to be a part of a mixed raced family. This aligns to the current world we live in and we should continue to see more characters as such. The illustrations are beautiful. I don’t know the style but it goes well with the story. They add to the loving and child-like tone of the story. The illustrations depict the story very nicely.Great work by the author and illustrator and everyone involved.I HIGHLY recommend this book. Everyone should get a copy.

    Thoughtful, and beautifully illustrated!
I liked it, and yet it left me feeling somewhat sad. This book has lots of great things that could be discussed with children in the quiet moments of cuddling, reading and preparing for sleep. It could also be used to discuss and introduce children to Grandparents or other family members that they have never met.I liked the term ‘octopus dad’ with many arms, and the pictures and illustrations are wonderful.

    A beautiful, uplifting book
“My Dad, my Rock” is a beautiful, heartfelt story of a little boy who sits down to write a letter to his grandad, whom he’d never met. He wanted to tell his grandad the things he loves most about the man who was “the rock” in his life. The little boy says his dad is always there to pick him up and to comfort him when necessary. But his dad also shows him how to do things himself and encourages him by saying he can become whatever he wants when he grows up. Dad even seems to see what’s happening when the little one is walking behind him. There are many treasured memories in this story and it’s explained in easy language that children will understand. The story is full of wisdom that will benefit young readers. The illustrations enhance the story. I”m pleased to give it a well-deserved 5-star rating.Review by children’s author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne

    If only we could meet…
A warm and sensitive picture book that will captivate dads, granddads, and grandchildren alike.Oliver reminisces about the grandfather he has never met. He decides to tell his grandfather about the son he has never known. As Oliver talks about his dad, readers learn about a father’s many roles as a friend, advisor, teacher, and playmate. The soft, pastel watercolors of the illustrations perfectly complement the tale. I highly recommend the book for families of children ages four through eight.
